Infection Control

Infection Control

Infection control and universal precautions protect both our patients and our staff. Everyone benefits from strict hygiene standards — you, your dentist, and the entire dental team. The cornerstone of a safe, effective dental practice is trust, and we encourage you to ask Dr. Wignall any questions you may have about our protocols.

Dr. Wignall and our team strictly adhere to infection control procedures recommended by federal agencies, including the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Our protocols include:

  • Disinfectant hand soap
  • Use of gloves and face masks
  • Chemical disinfection of countertops and surfaces
  • Sterilization of all equipment before each use
  • Use of disposable materials when appropriate

We sterilize all reusable equipment, including dental handpieces, using an autoclave — a specialized device that eliminates bacteria and viruses through steam, heat, and pressure.

The best defense against illness is education. The more you know, the more confident you can feel about your healthcare decisions. Understanding our daily procedures and safety protocols will help you feel comfortable and informed every step of the way.
